Face To Face with Brad Mullins

We were delighted to be able to chat to Brad Mullins after his standout performance at Salon Melbourne’s main stage together with make up artist Rae Morris. Brad is one of Australia’s top freelance hairdressers having styled the locks of many famous celebrities including Miranda Kerr, Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Rebecca Gibley.
Based in Sydney, Brad is the creative director for Labelm but spends most of his time on editorial photo shoots for magazines like Marie Clair, and recently, the cover for Australian Womens Weekly featuring PM Julia Gillard. His advertising clients include; Myer, Sportscraft, Veronika Maine and Portmans.
Originally from Werris Creek in Tamworth, Australia’s country music capital, Brad says music is definitely in the blood! Brad actually started his illustrious career attending the same acting school as Cate Blanchett when he was seventeen. Since becoming a hairdresser Brad has worked in New York, Los Angeles, Mexico, Spain and Australia. He even spent 8 months on cruise ships like the Oriana operating out of Miami.
Recently Brad has been in charge of styling on Australia’s ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ television series. When we asked Brad for his advice for up and coming session stylists, he had this to say; "It’s not just about hair anymore, one has to able talk, communicate and act on stage” Said Brad.
