Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award 2011 NZ National Finalists

Hailing from all over the country, the 19 finalists are made up of an eclectic and inspiring mix of hairdressers, all with their sights set on winning Trend Vision Gold and representing New Zealand on the global stage in New York later this year.
The Trend Vision Award is an annual competition that celebrates the skills of innovative stylists and showcases their passion, creative flair and ability to a global audience.
As the biggest and only truly international competition of its kind, Trend Vision challenges young stylists (under 30s) and talented colourists (all ages) to create their own looks within one of four directional Trend Vision themes.
Wella Professionals Global Creative Directors Eugene Souleiman and Josh Wood created the four dynamic Trend Vision Award 2011 themes; Passionista, Lumina, Glamazon and Polaris. Catwalk expertise, international research on key trends and socio-cultural movements were transformed into visionary hair looks designed to excite and inspire.
The live national final will take place on Monday August 1 in Auckland with the 19 finalists battling it out to win either the Color or Young Talent category. Awards presented on the night include Gold, Silver and Bronze per category, and an overall People’s Choice Award.
The Gold Young Talent and Color winners will go on to represent New Zealand in New York at the International Trend Vision Award on 30 October 2011. Our New Zealand winners will make their mark on the world as they compete against more than 50 countries in front of the world’s finest hairdressing talent.
To celebrate the success of the younger generation of stylists, the highest scoring entry by an apprentice in each region wins a Trend Vision Apprentice award and 1 year of Wella education. This accolade went to Michaela Powell, Amy Tildesley and Nicole Knox.
From the industry seasoned to up and coming superstars, the 2011 Trend Vision finalists showcased stunning work that immediately impressed the judging panel and will make 2011 one of the most spectacular Trend Vision competitions to date.
Judge and Editor of Fashion Quarterly, Fiona Hawtin said, "It’s always a pleasure to see the depth of talent New Zealand has in terms of its hairdressers when it comes to judging Wella Trend Vision. Some of the entries were breathtaking. Of course, they showed the requisite technical skills but they also had the creativity that makes a truly arresting image.”
Now in its 13th year, the annual Wella Trend Vision Award is renowned by hairdressers globally as one of the hairdressing industry’s most influential and esteemed competitions. Trend Vision is the biggest competition that offers ambitious young hairdressers the opportunity to showcase their abilities and compete against the best in the industry on a global scale.
