Sara Allsop - Schwarzkopf Professional Hair Expo New Zealand Hairdresser of the Year

Sara Allsop from Dharma in Mount Eden, Auckland was named the 2011 New Zealand Hairdresser of the Year, as part of the Schwarzkopf Professional Hair Expo Hairdressing Awards last week. The ultimate recognition for any New Zealand hairdresser, Sara took this year’s title at a spectacular gala ceremony in Darling Harbour in Sydney, hosted by Luke Jacobz.

Sara was one of two New Zealanders to win at last night’s awards, with Paul Serville from the Servilles Academy taking home Education Organisation of the Year. The standard of New Zealand entries was extremely high this year with Sara up against not only Mana Dave last years winner and Danny Pato from D&M Ponsonby but her own husband Jock Robson.

After the awards Jock commentated that he was a happy loser and said that Sara thoroughly deserved her win. In fact it was a marvellous win for the fairer sect as it has been a long time since a woman has taken the title!

Previous two-time Australian Hairdresser of the Year Hair Expo winner Jayne Wild took the award home for the third time, while Matt Clements from The Assembly Hair was named best colour Technician. Special mention goes to Lisa Muscat from é SALON who took out two big awards, New Creative Force and Best Photographic Collection. Jayne Wild’s Wild Life Hair took out Salon Team of The Year as well as Best Salon Design.

Celebrating their 26th anniversary, the annual Awards at Hair Expo are the longest running and most prestigious hairdressing awards in the Southern Hemisphere. They set the industry standard and are the pinnacle of excellence for Australian and New Zealand hairdressers.
