Kristina Russell Showcases Her Talent For The Inspiring World Of Redken

It’s been an exciting year for Redken Artist Kristina Russell from Sable Hair, NSW, who in June 2009, crossed international shores from Australia to Manhattan, New York to be part of the Inspiring World of Redken photo shoot.

One of eight international artists selected by Redken, Kristina represented Australia by showcasing her incredible talent on an international platform. Working closely with the Redken education team, Kristina collaborated with leading editorial stylist Brent Borresson (USA), to produce one of eight inspiring looks for the Inspiring World of Redken collection book; her hair look titled ‘Acid Rain’.

The Inspiring World of Redken collection is a series of high fashion, editorial images designed to excite, inspire and educate the international salon community. The collection not only showcases the amazing skill of stylists and colourists from various corners of world, but also outlines the cut, colour and finishing techniques each of the artists employed to create the look.

For the Inspiring World of Redken collection, Kristina was given the chance to show the world what represents them as an artist. Her collection image displays an overlay of acid colour, inspired by animation. With contrasting colours of dark browns against flashes of blond and acid yellow, the hair look "captures the light and illuminates the hair.”

Kristina spoke about the enjoyment she receives from being a professional colourist and working in the industry; "I always wanted to be an artist and as a colourist, I get to paint every day,” says Kristina Russell.

The Sydney native was trained in all aspects of colour and has transferred that knowledge to hairdressing. In January 2010, Kristina’s Acid Rain look was revisited when she took to the stage in Las Vegas at the National Redken Artist Connection. Demonstrating that her international profile continues to gain momentum, Kristina gave audiences a live demonstration on how to recreate her Acid Rain look in the salon.
