On Tour With Richard Kownacki

We were fortunate to catch Richard Kownacki in action at the Servilles Academy, presenting a De Lorenzo ‘Look & Learn’ seminar, one of many held recently around the country. John Myers New Zealand GM for De Lorenzo said "We were very pleased with the turnout, 174 attending our ‘Hands on’ workshops and 395 attended our ‘Look & Learn’ night seminars, a great success!”
It was an opportunity to learn from an exceptional international hairdressing educator, author, artist and motivational speaker. Starting his career in the UK during the swinging sixties. Richard’s abilities were soon recognized and rewarded with an Honourable Membership to The British Hairdressing Association.
In 1973 Richard immigrated to Australia to further his career, and over the next three decades established himself as a much sought after hairdressing trainer, freelancing to such organizations as De Lorenzo, Goldwell, Schwarzkopf, L’Oreal, Helene Curtis and Pivot Point. His outstanding hair designs and creations have been published in magazines such as Brides, Vogue and Cosmopolitan in Australia and the UK.
Richard’s ability to train and motivate have seen him constantly in demand throughout Australia, as well as ninety seven tours of New Zealand and two comprehensive tours of Japan and the USA. His use of logic when approaching hair design is unique and together with his passion to motivate, stimulate and captivate it is no wonder students get the most out of his sessions and are often captivated by his approach and ability to produce amazing results.
He has shown people how to take charge of their lives and their careers - and not just those in the hairdressing industry. Richard has motivated groups in both the private and corporate sectors. As a guest motivational speaker, Richard has appeared at numerous conferences, from the video industry to the world of insurance. It was inevitable that he bring his inspirational philosphy to a wider audience, through a book that he has penned himself.
This latest tour of NZ with De Lorenzo has been the most exciting to date, with day and evening sessions running from Invercargill to Whangarei. Richard is very excited about coming back next year and is already working on his De Lorenzo sponsored tour in April/May 2012. In addition he will be part of the De Lorenzo ‘ Creative Panel offering advice and leadership in education for the NZ Creative Teams.
