The World Of The Future

Front row seats at World... It just does not get any better than that! It was a great atmosphere as we waited with eager anticipation for the show of the week. ‘Good v Evil’ was the moniker for World’s standout event which started with an opening performance by a 3 piece drag group and culminated in the crowning of NZ’s Next Top Model, the last episode broadcasted live.
The World fashion extravaganza was spectacular to say the least. The collection was split into 3 parts ‘Future World,’ ‘World Future’ and ‘Russian Future. All representing various looks and feels. The first section opened with an array of fluorescent piping and panels that glowed in the dark. Futuristic tailoring perhaps! Russian influence was apparent with fur trims, roll neck tops, and big coats.

The rest of the collection contained some amazing pieces with the models made up like Russian Princesses sporting sky scraper hairdos. Micheal Beel from Buoy salon in Wellington headed the ghd Hair Creative Team with help from Derek Elvy and Cut Above Academy. James Leuii lead the Shiseido Makeup Team in creating some amazing facial effects.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation to the winner of NZ’s Next Top Model, 21-year-old Brigette Thomas of Motueka, surrounded by judges Colin Mathura-Jeffree, Chris Sisarich and Sara Tetro. Over one million television viewers tuned in to watch the live broadcast from the viaduct.

To sum up a fabulous and entertaining evening, the one show you do not want to miss! World continues to impress with their directional and eccentric approach to fashion.
