Wella’s International Trend Vision Awards was held at Pier 94 in New York 30th October. 2,000 guests which included hairdressers and members of the press, saw the launch of Wella’s Trend Vision 2012 – four hairstyles devised by Wella Professionals Global Creative Directors Eugene Souleiman and Josh Wood - ‘Grace, Blaze, Celeste and Roxy’ – female personalities that influence every facet of fashion and beauty.
The event was a showcase for young hairstyling talent through the hairdressing and colouring competitions with 85 finalists from 49 countries participating. Each international competitor won their national final in order to showcase their own interpretation of one of the 2011 Trend Vision in New York. Representing New Zealand in the Young Talent Award was Peter Burkill from Buoy Hairdressing in Wellington and competing for the Color Award was Jock Robson from Dharma Hairdressing in Auckland.
Jake Unger from Hob salons (Great Britain) won the prestigious Young Talent Gold Award and the highly coveted Gold Award for Color went to DeLing Wu from Di Qiu Cun salon (China). HOB Salons from Great Britain won not only GOLD in the Young Talent category but also took out the People’s Choice Award.
Streamed live online for the first time, 60,000 people voted via facebook, for the Peoples Choice Award. The on-line audience favourite in the Young Talent category also reflected the judges’ choice Hob salons from Great Britain, while the People’s Choice Award for Color went to Salon Shyne from Canada.
The winners were selected by a jury, comprising of some of the world’s most respected industry experts:
