Redken’s Tribe at iD Dunedin

Redken is back at iD Dunedin Fashion Week in 2012 and for the first time it is bringing the entire tribe.
In addition to its backstage sponsorship, this year the brand is supporting iD Dunedin by bringing the internationally renowned Tribe 2012 fashion, hair and inspiration event for Redken salons to New Zealand.
Directing Redken’s backstage styling team in 2012 are husband and wife Jock Robson and Sara Allsop from Auckland’s Dharma Hairdressing in Mt Eden.
The team is very much looking forward to working with the designers and delivering impactful looks that complement the designers’ style and the overall theme of the show.
While the designers often have a vision in mind, it’s Jock and Sara who develop the hair direction for each show. Their creative insight and inspiration is instrumental to the overall result.
"Everyone sees the trends that are evolving overseas and we think it’s important the designers build on that. Whatever direction we go down, the hair will have an international look and feel that fits the Redken catwalk philosophy – from Dunedin to New York to Sydney fashion week, Redken plays a big part in global style,” says Jock.
Having both been to the Big Apple recently, the talented husband and wife team know exactly what’s big in New York – ‘worn’ looks with lots of wearable texture and bigger size was an evident trend.
Jock and Sara have had an incredibly successful 2011, winning recognition in both New Zealand and internationally. Jock took out top honours at the Trend Vision competition while Sara was crowned the prestigious title of NZ Hairdresser of the Year awards at Hair Expo.
"We are delighted to be heading the Redken team at iD Dunedin 2012. It’s fantastic Redken has been so closely involved for more than a decade and we just love the alignment with fashion that Redken has developed and nurtured around the world,” says Sara.
Redken is supporting its New Zealand salons by holding the inaugural Tribe 2012 salon event which promises to ‘rock the runway’ according to marketing manager Kate Innes-Jones.
The event is by invitation and exclusive to Redken Club 5th Avenue salons - just one of the many benefits of being part of the Redken community.
"If you’re a Redken salon, Tribe 2012 will be an amazing experience and we are excited to bring our New Zealand community together for the first time in this international format.
"It’s an action-packed couple of days with inspirational business seminars and lots of events and activities so you can let your hair down,” Kate says.
The first annual Club 5th Avenue awards for excellence and commitment to the salon industry during 2011 will be announced at Tribe. Categories include Salon of the Year Award, the Largest Percentage Growth Award, the Educational Excellence Award and the Rising Star Award.
For guests, the busy few days involves the welcome cocktail event at The Savoy, the iD Dunedin Fashion Show at the iconic Dunedin train station, the business seminar at Glenfalloch Gardens on the stunning Otago Peninsula and the Club 5th Avenue Annual Ball at the historic Larnach Castle.
