NZFW - Backstage Pass
In order to obtain our backstage passes we had to endure the process of climbing the stairs to the Media Room at NZFW. There a lovely lady proceeded to issue our passes. It all came unstuck when the printer refused to print.
We then had to witness the amusing spectacle of 2 IT guys running around trying to fix the PC to printer connection. Twenty minutes later we were on our way with our passes but not before I had made the comment that perhaps it was time to ditch the PCs

Hairdressing Training Salon Opens In Dunedin
After a four-year break, a polytechnic delivered tertiary-level hairdressing training has returned to Dunedin thanks to Aoraki Polytechnic. With about 100 salons in the area Aoraki Polytechnic has identified a gap in the market and officially opened its training salon on the 24th March.

In October, Kerastase hosted a styling workshop with a selection of the brand’s elite partner salons. 23 stylists representing 12 salons came together in Auckland to create a collection of editorial shots using the new Kerastase Chroma Thermique thermo-radiance protecting milk for colour treated hair. Each salon’s work was photographed by professional photographer Helen Bankers and the results are simply stunning.

L’Oréal Paris Académie 14 rue Royale
Paris would have to be one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world with well over 45 million tourists every year treading it’s stone pavements. And I’m excited to report that Images counted for two of them. We only had a few days there and we had a lot to see and do. After a quick visit to the Eiffel Tower in which every tourist has to do at least once, it was off to visit the world’s largest centre for Hairstyling Education: The Académie 14 rue Royale.
Peace and tranquillity at Nobel Hair design
It’s got the same name as the inventor of dynamite and Nobel Hair Design in Beachlands is certainly home to a dynamic team of dedicated professionals. Swedish born Athina Couper brings a vibrancy to Nobel that is beautifully offset by the tranquil setting of Pine Harbour Marina east of Auckland on the Pohutukawa Coast.
Beside the calm marina waters it may be, but it’s all go for Athina and her team of three full-timers and two part time stylists.
Paris-based Mod’s Hair opens its first Australian salon at Circle on Cavill in Surfers Paradise.

Ponsonby’s On Jervois - A Unique Establishment!
Ken Beguely is a stalwart of the Auckland hairdressing scene having been part of the Three Lamps Shopping precinct for as long as most of us can remember. Ken first opened Ponsonby’s Hair Establishment in October 1979 and at that time it was considered unique as the entire salon was set up with antique dressing tables as workstations which set the salon apart from from others because of its distinctive ‘Old World’ decor.

Rodney Wayne Salons Dig Deep for Christchurch!
In response to the devastating earthquakes that hit Christchurch late in 2010 and early 2011, the Rodney Wayne Group searched for an effective way to help family, friends and colleagues affected by the natural disasters.
On March 19th 2011 all of the Rodney Wayne salons nationwide turned black and red in honour of Christchurch, and collected 10% of each salon’s turnover for the day. These funds were donated to the 'Adopt A Christchurch Family' Charity.
