Danny Pato The Nomad Queens Collection
The Nomad Queens is the striking new avant-garde collection from seven-time consecutive New Zealand Hairdresser of the Year Danny Pato, photographed by long-time collaborator Mara Sommer. The creative concept behind the colourful shoot came from vision of a future utopia, when a band of royal sisters rule the world in peace.
“Theirs is an experiential reign, a life moving through cultures, living through the world rather than removed from it” said Pato.
“They’ve displaced war and the power-hungry people who had ruled through cruelty and fear. They now rule the world together, uniting their peoples through feminine power, wisdom, and divinity.”
Hair was inspired by a broad collection of cultural references: the lucky plant, a sunset, a peacock, a porcupine, coral, and the Pushkar Fair from Central India each served as specific inspiration for each shot.
The collection forms part of Danny’s winning entry for Avant-Garde Hairdresserof the Year 2024 at the ‘Holy Grail’ awards platform for the Pacific, the Creative Australian Hair Industry Awards.
