Sequin Hair by Sam “Bee Sam” Borenheim
Sequin Hair, is an innovative technique created by master colourist Sam Borenheim of Bee Sam Beauty in Vancouver. This method incorporates sequins—typically seen as shiny discs sewn onto fashion garments—directly into the hair. The result is a stunning effect, with the sequins transforming into shimmering strands that reflect light, adding radiant bounce to the hair.
“I wanted to offer my clients something beyond the trendy fairy tinsel hair that’s everywhere these days,” says Bee Sam. “So, I looked to the past for inspiration, knowing that sequins had a special touch of sparkle all their own.” Sam continues, “After extensive research and development, I created my own looping technique, allowing the sequins to be seamlessly integrated into the hair. With proper care, this method extends the life of the sequins for up to six weeks.”
For an added burst of sparkle, larger embellishments such as spangles, sequins, or charms can be attached to the ends of the strands.
