On the weekend of the 17th and 18th of June the annual 2023 NZ Hair & Beauty Expo took place at an exciting new venue at the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland. This proved to be a hugely successful move as it attracted thousands of enthusiastic hairdressers, salon owners, skin experts and beauty therapists through it’s glass revolving doors eager to discover the latest in technology, business, products and more!
For all those involved in the Expo, not was the amount of exhibitors the highest ever in the history of the event, there was also a record number of attendees who visited over the weekend! A notable observation was the huge number of Australian visitors who had made the journey from over the ditch!
Shaughan Woodcock, owner and director of SDW Events (NZ Hair & Beauty Expo), said the new venue was a huge success and it was great to see attendees embracing the surrounding locale, too. A testament to the expo’s success was its uplift in traffic. “We saw a 15 percent increase in attendee numbers. The engagement and energy was high, with many attendees opening accounts, purchasing, sampling products and of course, buying.” Said Woodcock.
The upstairs education arena was hosted by Wilhelmina Shrimpton, with international industry leaders, like Lucy Kuper of Biologi, a key highlight! In the main area on the ground floor attendees enjoyed themselves experiencing a wide range of categories including barbering, hair colour, haircare, skincare, brows and lashes, nails, laser technology, training, salon and spa software, and in-stall demonstrations from well known experts like Cathy Davis and respected Barbers and Nail technicians. Food trucks and coffee carts were also on hand to fuel attendees as they connected and learned.
Brands and businesses involved including established and popular exhibitors including K-Cosmetics, Prochaine, Little Honey, Luxe Beauty, Li- Lash, Youth Beauty, House of Camille, DMK Australia & NZ, Brillbird, Magpie Beauty, Revitalash, Designer Nails, Kitomba Salon and Spa Software, House of Camille and L’Oréal Professional Products Division, Sabre Corp, Chi Haircare, PHB, Framer and many more!
A highlight for us was the after party for exhibitors on Saturday Night at the Pavilion on North Wharf. Where Shaughan Woodcock hosted drinks & food for those keen on celebrating the success of the expo! Those who attended certainly had smiles on their faces and were obviously enjoying the jovial atmosphere of the occasion!
In summary it was evident from everyone that we spoke to, including visitors, that the event and it’s new location exceeded expectations and that the NZ Hair & Beauty Expo will definitely be on everyone’s calender for next year!
