Upfront with John Myers from NAK: It has been over 35 years since John became involved in the hair care industry which, he tells us on a sunny Tuesday morning, was the best decision he ever made.
Being part of the NAK dream-team these past 9 years, he tells us excitedly that the next steps for NAK HAIR NZ and NAK Globally is the announcement sent out to salons in early May 2022.
The Announcement Read:
We are delighted to announce that we have taken on a majority investment partner, Adamantem Capital, to invest in and support the continued growth of our business. NAK have experienced incredible growth and demand for our products over the last year, including through our valued partnership with you. To keep pace with this ever-growing demand while maintaining the customer standards you know from us, we need to invest in our business and add to our teams.
In this context, NAK Hair founders Tony Rigney & John Cash have decided to take on a majority partner to invest alongside them and back the management team as we grow further. I am pleased to welcome Adamantem Capital as a majority investor in NAK Hair.
Adamantem is an Australian private equity group with a reputation for investing in high-potential businesses like ours and partnering with founders and management teams to deliver results.
We are excited to pursue our future with Adamantem Capital, as they will assist us in implementing the professional processes that will help us grow, while preserving our genuine culture, values and teams that are fundamental to our relationship with you.
John believes this is one of the most exciting opportunities for NAK HAIR and will be instrumental in enabling the evolution of this brand.The genuine relationships that the NAK NZ team have built with salons right across NZ over the past 9 years is one that he is most proud of – it’s a success story build on trust, integrity, product performance and the willingness to get involved in supporting both the salon staff and owners.
All the NZ team have been salon owners either past or present, all have a minimum of 15 years in the industry, and many have been educators or ‘brand distributors’, meaning they understand what is needed TODAY to ensure their clients success and growth.
With the successful launch of ORI LAB into the NZ & Australian markets, salons now have an exceptionally authentic product range that stays true to the principles of clean beauty and organic ingredients.
This innovative approach to haircare is one that is in demand from salon owners, and their clients, and NAK has recognised this and responded with a beautiful range of products that fit this demand.
John says, “ORI LAB is a range of post care product for rituals that underpin the salon relationships NAK strives for, both in terms of product choice in the salon and extending into the home, where hair care maintenance is the key for a client’s hair. Our focus for the future of NAK is to support salons to take positive advantage of the challenges of a changing world and the impact on our industry.”
NAK have always believed that the salon team are a key component for any salon’s future, hence they have constructed an education portfolio, built around ORI LAB and made freely available to those who have chosen to include the brand in their salon. This lets salons and their staff grow their knowledge base of how to get the most out of these new products.
As John got up to leave at the end of our time together, he made this observation;
“There is volatility in our market with many factors presenting challenges to business owners, including staffing issues, rising costs and increasing inflation coupled with the projection of a global recession. Those salons who invest in their people, continue to evolve their business, and know their numbers and what they mean, will certainly be well ahead of those who do not. NAK is determined to work with these businesses for a positive outcome for all.”
